‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Hopes to Inspire Young Cancer-Sufferers
12-year-old Millie Bobby Brown is wise beyond her years. The breakout star from Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things is embracing her shaved head and using the “opportunity to encourage and inspire girls with cancer and chemotherapy-related hair loss, as well as alopecia sufferers, to embrace the look,” shared A Plus.
The actress explained to Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover during an interview with Access Hollywood Live that her hair isn’t “her everything” unlike most girls her age. Before taking the role, Brown had very long hair and had to convince her mom and grandpa that it would be okay to cut it off. “I had very long hair and I cut it all off for the part. I read the script and I was so happy with my character and I thought, this is how it’s gotta be,” Brown shared with Vulture. “My mom and my grandpa were like, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ It took me 12 years — well, 11 years — to grow something. [My hair] wasn’t thick, but it was long. And then they shaved it all off and it was very hard for my parents. But I convinced them. I was like, ‘Dude, it grows back. It’s fine.’” Check out the video of Brown turning into Eleven and shaving her head below!
