Beloved fitness guru and TV personality Richard Simmons has reached out to his fans directly for the first time in three years following his hospitalization earlier this week.

The veteran star, who has been in hiding since 2014, was hospitalized in California on Monday for “severe indigestion” and he is now assuring fans he is doing better.

“Hello to everyone who has shown concern for me and sent their good wishes,” a statement from Simmons to People reads. “You will never know how much it means to me. Aren’t you sick of hearing and reading about me?! LOL. “Well, by now you know that I’m not ‘missing’, just a little under the weather. I’m sure I will be feeling good and back home in a couple of days.” The 68-year-old also offered up words of advice to his fans and urged them to seek help from family and friends if they need it. “I reached out and I hope you will too,” the statement adds. “I’m sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face. Just knowing you care has already made me feel better. Hope to see you again soon!” Simmons also included a 2014 picture of himself. The eccentric exercise fanatic’s health has become a hot topic of speculation of late, thanks to posts on the podcast “Missing Richard Simmons.” His older brother, Lenny, recently cleared up all the rumors, insisting his sibling is doing just “fine.”
