A New Jersey Teen Arrived to Prom Entrance in a Casket and Hearse
New Jersey teenager Megan Flaherty had a unique prom entrance to die for. The Pennsauken High School student arrived at her prom in a hearse. The 17-year-old, wearing a deep blue dress, was then unloaded from the vehicle in a casket. Once outside, she rose us up into the arms of her prom date. Regarding her entrance, Megan Flaherty told NJ.com, “I like being different.” Many of Flaherty’s classmates enjoyed her entrance, though they may have found it surprising. “I don’t think they were really processing it,” she told NJ.com. “I’m a quiet person in school, so people didn’t expect it.” And apparently, the teen doesn’t seem to mind if people are judging her choice. “Anything people do these days, people judge it,” she told NJ.com “People have opinions.” Megan Flaherty picked the macabre entrance because she plans on becoming a funeral director after graduating college. In fact, the hearse was driven by Flaherty family friend — and Megan’s mentor — funeral director Dennis McGee. “It’s not for everyone — death is a touchy thing,” her mom, Susan Flaherty, told Inside Edition. “Some people are afraid of it, but that is her chosen profession, and she was celebrating what she wanted to do with her life after high school.” The soon-to-be graduate has already assisted McGee with several funerals, and is planning to attend Mercer County Community College’s funeral director program.
