Lady Gaga Signs on for Super Bowl Halftime Show – Report
Lady Gaga will reportedly headline the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The “Born This Way” hitmaker was said to have entered talks with NFL bosses for the coveted show last Wednesday, and now an organization insider has revealed to Us Weekly that the superstar is officially on board.
NFL chiefs have yet to confirm or deny the news, but if it’s true, Gaga will hit the stage at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5, 2017 at the 51st annual Super Bowl. Her big performance at the sporting extravaganza will take place a year after she belted out the U.S. national anthem at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, CA, where headliners Coldplay were joined by Beyonce and Bruno Mars. The singer, who is set to release her new album Joanne in October, has also yet to comment on the report, but before she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl 50 earlier this year, she admitted she was overjoyed to be a part of the championship game. “This is one of the highest honors of my career,” she explained to the NFL Network. “I get a chance to sing for all the athletes – who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment – the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. I think it marks what being an American is all about.” Gaga’s news emerges a month after British soul star Adele claimed she had been approached to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl, but turned the offer down. NFL executives subsequently insisted no such offer was ever made to the “Hello” singer.
