Lady Gaga is following Taylor Swift’s example and donating cash to the flood relief efforts in Louisiana.

Swift revealed she is donating $1 million to the cause on Tuesday and later, the “Poker Face” star has announced her own plans to give generously.

The 30-year-old singer took to Twitter to discuss the victims of the widespread flooding, which damaged thousands of homes and resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people. “My thoughts and prayers to all of our loved ones in Louisiana suffering through the flood,” she wrote. “My family & I are donating to relief efforts.” “Shake It Off” star Swift released a statement on Tuesday, revealing she felt compelled to help those struggling in the aftermath of the floods because she feels a special connection to the state after starting the U.S. leg of her 1989 World Tour there last year. “We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home,” Swift said. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.” The flooding has been caused by torrential rain and has damaged 40,000 homes, according to Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. Over 60,000 people have applied for disaster aid from FEMA.
